As part of a two-step process, the liner is first placed at the bottom of the landfill to prevent seepage of the accumulated liquid. Then, the caps are applied to the top.
These flexible geomembranes cover landfills to prevent the further precipitation and additional environmental stress. Using caps also helps control and remove landfill gas.
